No Guns...No...Seriously...

We saw this sign posted on the door of the Lawrence, Kansas, City Hall building...

And I thought they were joking. Until it occurred to me that we were in Kansas...

We also saw this sign posted on a car rental agency's door:

It says: "We are picking up a customer and will return shortly."

Only in Kansas.

"Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me," takes on new meaning in a Kansas bank. I wonder. Is there a gun checkroom by the entrance? After all, it is upon leaving a bank, with money in hand that a gun might be most needed. Yes! A gun check stand with a babe fond of plastic surgery giving out little claim tags. What a job! She could make a fortune in tips. There would be details to work out of course. Would she be an independent businesswoman or a bank employee? What should she wear? Ahhh a new assignment for Tim Gunn.

Ahhhhh, the sign is on the door to City Hall, not on a bank door as I thought. Ummmm, interesting that elected ones (I can't bear to call them officials.), tax collectors, and other government robbers think it necessary to be so cautious. Maybe the gun check babe is right outside city hall. Maybe she's a government employee. Maybe she's friendly with the mayor. Governor Spritzer should talk to this guy. Taxpayer dollars at work in Kansas.

That is funny. Everywhere else I've had text warnings many places besides the airport, which has tandem text and signs. Such text signs are places where I've had a speeding ticket I've contested. This includes:

Clarkesville TN, Rye NY, Haverstraw NY, Stamford CT, Carlisle PA, Fernandina Beach FL
